While visiting the botantical gardens we discovered guords. Now I know many people grow them and I understand that they are related to the squash family and some are in the squash family, however, I do not see the point in these interesting nutrient suckers! I do have to admit they are rather cool hanging from this arbor looking canopy.
I dont think that I will be planting any of these anytime soon, as I dont have enough for the things I CAN EAT!
These do look cool hanging down! There are many people who use the gourds to make bird houses, especially for purple martins, and lots of craft/art things. Gourd baskets using pine needles and carving are big in the art/craft world. I have always wanted to try and make a basket with one. I agree, though, they take a lot of space and it isn't hot enough to grow them here.
