Who Has Who Trained?

Who ever said chickens weren't smart, was so WRONG! These are my parents chickens; Oprah, Beyonce and Michelle, they are Black Stars. Aren't they pretty? Anyway, back to why they are so smart. First, they are not remotely afraid of the dogs, I guess they know, the dogs stay on their side of the fence and that we will protect them from the dogs. Next and most importantly, the picture below is of them standing at the sliding glass door. This is where Jeff feeds them bread and they have learned that if he is home he will feed them multiple times from this exact spot.
So this is what happens if they see people in the house they come running, then they stare in the house to see if Jeff (my step-dad) is home. When he doesn't appear they decide it is time to do go and do what chickens do best. Hunt and Peck!! Below is a picture of them deciding he his not home and that is time for them to find food on their own.

So whoever said that chickens weren't smart, never met our chickens I guess. The girls know who the weakest link is in our family, I mean, the dogs know that Jeff is the weakest link and that they will always get food from him, but now even the chickens have figured it out!!!

Kirby's 10th Birthday

Yesterday was Kirby's 10th birthday! He is the last one left out of his litter of 5. So I decided it would be best if he had a small party, complete with a cake. The day included a trip to the dump where he got to cookies from the nice dump lady, next we went to the vet clinic to see his friends and Dr. since birth where he was weighed and his heart checked, then we headed to the harbor for a nice walk and a stop at Sophie's Touch (pet boutique). At Sophie's Touch he got two toys and some cookies. Lastly we headed home for some lunch and a short nap before his party. Here is a picture of his cake from Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Shop.

He had a great birthday, and was exhausted when the day was over, as was I. Here's to celebrating 10 years of life and hopefully a few more.

Sizzle the Missile!

This would be my new project! Sizzle the Missile! AND she is a missile!
However, she does not think water is fun! Don't worry Uncle Kirby will teach her and if not Emma and Maddie Grace sure will!

The wind is hard on a girls ears and the sand got in her eye so she had to squint!

This is my bone, mommy said so, now GIVE IT!

I dont know what happen, mom was watering the garden and I was helping and the BY ACCIDENT the sprayer ended up in my mouth. (by the way it took us a good 10 minutes to get away from her!! Bad dog)

Uncle Kirb teaching me the fine art of chewing. He was such a good boy, he let her climb all over him. Notice in the left hand corner, Toni on couch...she said it was Kirby's turn to watch 'The Missile'

She is very cute, and I am sure she will be great fun to show when the time comes!

Brothers!

Everyone should have a brother, well maybe not everyone! While we were in Washington, I begged, actually demanded Bob and Karen to let us come over and see Parker, who is Kirby's brother. I showed Parker when he was a baby, he was the first to finish his championship and the easiest by far to finish. Parker and Kirby could not be more different, although we love both the same. Here is a picture of the two boys together, probably for the last time, as Parker was diagnosed with a very bad type of bone cancer. They were very good with eachother and seemed to be happy to see eachother.

I am so thankful that Karen and Bob let us come over and see him. Parker was very happy to see us and was so excited to play show dog, its funny how they never forget!
I will have to see if I can find the baby pictures of Parker, he like the rest were so cute!
