So like I said last night I was getting up early this morning so that I could go out and pollinate my squash and zucchinis, however, once again the joke is on me! I got up at 5:30 and went outside with Kirby and Maddie Grace and discovered that I only had MALE FLOWERS!! Grrrrr! I checked all of my plants and sure all I had was male flowers, as I had slight temper tantrum, I looked over and so that the dogs were eating grass, now this is a normal event at my house, but I wonder if I could teach them to pluck the grass that sprouts in my beds....hmmmm.
After my tantrum I walked over to my tomatoes and discovered the BIGGEST worm I have ever seen. At first I thought it was a snake, but nope it was a worm. It was squirming across the patio, when it reach the board that borders the bed it simply crawled up and over and into the dirt. AMAZING!
Alright more later, I have to get ready for work!!! I am going to be late!
I think it is up early with the birds! But worms are nice. So how do you tell a male flower from a female flower? I have to get ready for work too.....just me and Kara!
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely a crazed gardener now like the rest of us! I have never self-pollinated any plants, but my dad does with his tomatoes and he gets tons. I'll have to ask him how he does it.
ReplyDeleteMom, the female flowers have the fruits behind the flower and the male flowers are just a stem with a flower!
ReplyDeleteObviously the female flowers are much more important.....just like in real life :)
