Beets!

So once again, I planted something that I didn't think I liked, BUT (drum roll please) I discovered (thanks to my hubby) that I LIKE BEETS! Who know, once again, thanks mom, for never exposing me to beets. I have been missing out!!! I planted beets for Anthony and (after some research) for the dogs, but now they have to share with little me. Anthony made the beets with caramelized onions and white balsamic reduction and let me just tell you it was DE-LISH! So far he is 3 for 3...Brussel Sprouts, Artichokes and now Beets. I wonder what I will discover I like next? Rutabagas are on the list for sure, but my list is definitely getting smaller for sure.

I am going to my first ever Plant Society Sale on Saturday. I am very excited as it is going to be mainly herbs and heirloom tomatoes. I would love to be part of a garden society but I don't want to be a part of a group of little old ladies, so I guess I will see what I would be getting into by going to the society sale that is open to the public. Whatever the outcome might be I am very excited as I don't have any tomatoes yet and I feel like they are staple to any garden.

Anthony and I were giving this picture of Hope by the Korean girls that SHE (Hope) took for a walk a few weeks ago. This was right before Hope jumped in after the geese. She is such a wonderful dog and you can't help but not love her, even if she does get in the garbage!

  1. I wonder how many other things I never exposed you to! Hmmmmm! Trust me I am sure if I had made you eat just plain ole' beets you would have hated them. I hate beets but made by Anthony I would probably eat them too :) And maybe there are young people in the Garden Society?? And yes Hopey on a Ropey is very good dog even if she also eats Quiche!

  2. We love beets...I usually make them with orange juice, nutmeg and orange zest, but I will have to try Anthony's recipe...sounds yummy. You should get your Master Gardener's certification (don't think the garden society does this, but they would probably know how to go about it), so you can teach us "old ladies"!
