Garden Wonders

So my seedlings aren't so little anymore! I need to plant them in the ground but am having a little anixety about it, as I have no idea what has been in the ground before. However, when we were rotilling we found lots of earthworms and the ground is well with in a good pH range and has decent nutrient levels when I tested it earlier this year. I know, I know, I just need to do it.

May Japanese Maple Tree amazes me. It survived the winter, the deer and the move. It is more beautiful then it was last year. I feel bad as I did not transplant it this winter, it is in such an ugly pot. Doesn't Hopey-ona-Ropey look thrilled having her picture taken. She is such a brat!

These are my suprise tulips!! Obviously, at sometime in this little houses life someone cared enough to plant these here. I love them! I think I will dig them up after they are done and take them with us where ever we may go next, so we can always remember this house and big move! I was having second thoughts about digging them up as I thought the next person to live in this house should be able to enjoy them, but we were told the other day that there are plans to bull-doze are whole block and build some government building. So I guess I will take them so they won't be trapped under pavement! Emma has an obsession with the flowers and is constantly sticking her nose in them and then sneezing. I assume she is breathing in and getting a nose full of pollen. She is a dork!

Enjoy the day, we are headed to the Arch, shortly!

  1. Wow, you are a better gardener than I am...I don't think that I ever have tested my soil...I just guess and add what I think the plants need (sometimes it works and sometimes not). You need to grow more flowers so that you can attract good bugs like bees, ladybugs etc...Some flowers like marigolds even distract bad bugs and deer. They are easy to grow...plant around your veggies...plus they are pretty!

  2. And it is hard to kill a Marigold! They even survived the chickens scratching them out of the ground and I would just stick them back in :) She gets that anal behavior from Jeff he wants to test our soil too and I tell him no need.....just plant!
