YAY today is Earth day! We are going to be spending it planting out my veggies! I am very excited! First we are having breakfast, poached eggs, Hollandaise sauce and whole wheat toast(from the farmers market). YUM, YUM and more YUM! By the way, poached eggs were a new discovery along the way. I actually discovered I liked them on a Meatless Monday dinner. After breakfast, we will head to Starbucks, then off to a few nurseries to pick up some organic fertilizer and just to look around. I am still on a search for Mason Bees, however, people here look at me like I have 3 heads when I ask about them. Hmmmmm, guess I will just keep looking. After a few small errands it will be back home, to plant and let the dogs play! In honor of Earth
day, Anthony is going to set up my ran barrels, plus it is suppose to rain tonight and tomorrow! Yuck! Full day planned...I promise to take pictures of the garden today as my garlic is HUGE, peas are well, sad, and the my lettuce is coming along. I am going to start my second set of green beans, as my goal this year is to have succession plantings. We will see, I am going to try. I always get so caught up in the harvest I forgot to plant again.
Hope everyone has a good day! And remember today is Earth day, so change one thing in your lives to be friendlier to the planet!
I'm gonna do the same thing down here in the Deep South....plant something else green. Too bad you're not closer, for my lettuce (Romaine and Buttercrunch) are about to drive me to setting up a market on the street. And I'm trying Chinese Cabbage, which I thought might need to be tied up, but to my delight, they are "uprighting" themselves already! Have just picked two bitty ripe tomatoes to eat off the first planted tomato. Also have discovered three more planters that need something to cheer them up, so it's off to the wholesale market to find a way to be greener on this important day. But first a drink out of the Britta, which I am gradually weaning myself over to instead of bottled water....it's hard, but I'm trying--can you believe it???!!!! How's the breakfast boy? L/Mp
ReplyDeletePS - Planted two hills of watermelon yesterday afternoon....one of a twenty-pounder and one of the little kind. Never had watermelon in the garden before but we'll see how THAT turns out. You inspire me with all the new stuff you're trying, so I'm out to do it too!!! Smiles, MsP
ReplyDeleteHappy Earth Day to you too! I planted many bulbs yesterday and we talked about taking out some of the lawn in the backyard...less watering good for the Planet! Our Mason Bees are going crazy this year I can't wait to see their little cocoons! Have a great day! Wish I was there:)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds yummy...close to eggs benedict one of my favorites. My seedlings are all coming up and half of my peas came up, so I planted more pea seeds in the empty places..always an adventure in the garden, as you know! For our Earth Day goal we are changing to fluorescent light bulbs once the old ones burn out. Happy gardening!
